St.Francis de Sales Speaks of Virtues:

There are virtues which are almost always practiced. Occasions of practising courage, magnanimity and great generosity are rare. But practices of gentleness, moderation, honesty & humility are more necessary than the excellent. (Sugar is more enjoyable than salt but salt has more frequent and general use).

We must prefer that virtue which corresponds more with our duties than our tastes. (IDL III,1) True virtue is ever firm and constant, so be firm in our intentions, unwavering in our decisions, and perseverance in our commitment to the devout life. (IDL IV,1). He  insisted on humility
