The Superior’s Little Salesian Treasure

The superiors are challenged to discover healthy and meaningful ways to fill up the vacuum fashioned by the so-called modem “enlightened ignorance”. But if the superiors themselves waver and are uncertain where shall they turn to? The “Superior's Little Salesian Treasure” provides with few simple and practical insights which are of perennial value. It is rooted on the teachings of St Francis de Sales and the insights of Jane de Chantal and many outstanding religious women of the Order of the Visitation. Translated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Tissot MSFS, the once Superior General of the MSFS, this small booklet consists of spiritual treasures which are of invaluable help to formators in any religious community.

Although it has been entitled “Little Treasure”, this booklet contains an invaluable wealth of a solid and sound doctrine. It is Salesian, because everything in it has its roots in Saint Francis de Sales, Saint Jane de Chantal’s, and a few other outstanding religious women’s writings, all belonging to the Institute of the Visitation.

This compilation is not a treatise. It consists of texts that do not follow any artistically arranged pattern. The texts are numbered in such a way that the reader can meditate on each of them separately, track them down effortlessly, and, if necessary, recommend them to other people according to their state of mind.
