A Spiritual-Theological Investigation into the Dialogue between Cultures and the Spirituality of the MSFS and its Implications for Missionary Life and Commitment

The first chapter presents the theological and spiritual understanding of cultures and spirituality. It is divided into two major parts i.e. cultures and spirituality. The first part presents the definition of cultures and their postmodern understanding, the theological and spiritual understanding, and their relationship with the Church. The second part presents spirituality, its meaning, and its dimensions. The theological and the present development of spirituality follow. Then, the relationship between spirituality and cultures is presented in the last part.

The second chapter presents the spirituality of the Missionaries of Saint Francis dc Sales and how it is to be differentiated from the Salesian Spirituality or other spiritualties. This chapter is divided into three parts. The first part presents St Francis de Sales and Salesian Spirituality. The second part presents Fr Peter Mermier and his Spirituality. And the third part presents the Spirituality of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales and its salient features. The focus of this chapter is the primacy of the love of God and how it affects to the love of neighbours and the cosmos.

The third chapter studies and presents the relevance of dialogue in the religious and missionary life of the Missionaries of Saint Francis de Sales with cultures. In this chapter, the meaning of dialogue, its theological and spiritual dimensions are presented. This chapter also presents some models of dialogue that could best describe how dialogue is to be done. Then, the implications of dialogue in the context of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales follow's.
