Everyone is entitled to sanctity. The Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), particularly in its doctrinal Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium, affirmed this reality for our times. The document's fifth chapter is titled "The Universal Call to Holiness."

It has a similar presentation to St. Francis de Sales. His perspective is nearly identical to that of the Second Vatican Council, and he expresses it in the same language. To demonstrate this, a few citations from both sources will sufficient.

This book is the result of prayer and living, of thought and experience. It's only an invitation to the reader to listen to a message and find a path with the help of a friend, St. Francis de Sales.
