Spirituality of SFS: A Way of Life

In the Preface to the Treatise on the Love of God, Francis writes modestly: “I say nothing which I haven’t learnt from others.” It is true that his teaching faithfully echoes both the Gospel and the common teaching of the Church on holiness. Nevertheless, Francis has his own unique approach to the way of holiness and to the manner of encouraging people to take the spiritual journey. His spiritual pedagogy could be expressed in this way:

1. Begin with interiority

2. Reason must reign within Interiority

3. A memory on the alert

4. A disciple’s heart

5. Consistency between heart and life

6. On a Journey available to all

7. In liberty of spirit

8. Open Witnessing

9. In fidelity
